So glad you’re here: Welcome to The Gathering Tree

There is no denying that our time in history is marked by division, conflict, and hurt. These divisions seep from the headlines into our communities and families, striking a chord of fear, hopelessness, and anger—sometimes overwhelmingly so.

Often, the only salve is to immerse ourselves in nature, going out every day until understanding or direction becomes clear. But nature is much more than a temporary remedy—it is a powerful teacher.

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

So, I stand among mature trees blanketed in spring snow. I close my eyes, listening to the quiet, breathing in the crisp air, and feeling a protective stillness. My attention shifts to the ground beneath my feet, where active root systems are far from at rest.

These roots, storing energy and nutrients, are preparing to release them for spring growth. The unassuming, entangled root systems—capable of communicating and sharing resources through an underground network of fungi called mycorrhizae—form a resilient community, even in the harshest winters.

All that effort during the cold, dark winter might lead one to expect the snow to melt a bit quicker and an earlier spring. But no—each season has its own purpose. No season lasts forever, and we must prepare for and anticipate the next one.

What We Are Exploring This Month

Introducing “The Gathering Tree”: an online root system for storing, sharing, and receiving energy and nutrients as we enter our own spring season—one filled with empathy, generosity, and advocacy.

The Gathering Tree team has been connecting all winter, and we can almost hear the birds chirping. A few daffodils are already reaching for the sun. Yes, we are eager for spring and all the hope the season brings.

We invite you to join us this spring! Connect, support, and receive through our shared community. Your unique insights, voice, action, discernment, sensitivities, and wisdom are powerful. Speak them out loud, connect your roots, and become part of The Gathering Tree.

Consider doing this activity in parallel with a young person. Young people have few filters and see things with a wide open view of the world. Compare and learn from each other.

Join The Conversation

The Gathering Tree will offer a monthly journal based on research, designed to help us better understand our emotions and provide practical, real-world tools for ourselves and those we care about. Respond to the journal, share your insights, and absorb the nourishing support of others.

What do you think? Are you ready to gather around the tree together?

Next month: Real-Deal Optimism!

Not the sugar-coated, "everything is sunshine and rainbows" kind - but the kind that helps you bounce back when life gets messy. We're diving into optimism that's grounded, practical, and actually useful when life is rugged. Because sometimes, a little hope (with a side of realism) is exactly what we need. Stay tuned!
